Tomboy Style and dream following

I remember the day my friend Brooke showed me the blog Tomboy Style. She just knew I'd be in love. Honestly, before then, I wasn't much of a blog reader... Or much of a social networker of any kind for that matter. I was intimidated by the whole idea.

…But my dear Brookie is one of my all time favorite fashionistas and would never ever steer me in the wrong direction.

Brooke was right, Lizzie Garrett Mettler is a tomboy style genius. Her thoughtful writing, eye for beautiful things and authenticity, quite frankly, made me want to be her friend forever. Yeah, I just said that.  Cool, I am not.

Fast forward a year or so and I grew some balls (yeah, I just said that too).

I decided to take the power of social networking into my own hands, throw caution to the wind and tweet Lizzie herself. I wanted to tell her how much of an inspiration she was to me. Do ridiculously busy writers and bloggers tweet back? If you're Lizzie you do.

Oh my, when I got that tweet, I ran around the house like a crazy dancing chicken (you probably think i'm kidding).

Soon after that, she asked if I would do a Q&A for her blog, my favorite blog of all time.

Just a few weeks ago I got an email from the ever awesome Lizzie. She asked If I'd be up for a possible interview with her friend Heather JohFogarty. She was writingan article for Marie Claire magazine (holy crap) and thought I'd be a great fit. WHAT! ME?! THIS IS AMAZING!!!

A short time later I spoke to Heather, who is equally lovely. Then I was whisked away on a whirlwind trip to NYC for the photo shoot.

It was just like the movies. The Photographers, the stylists, the SHOES… it was wonderful.

Yesterday, the December issue of Marie Claire hit newsstands… and I'm in it. Whoa.

It's crazy what a little (or a lot) of dream following and putting yourself out there can do. x
