3 Local Small Businesses To Help You Celebrate Send A Card To A Friend Day

We’re pretty nostalgic when it comes to snail mail, especially when it comes to cards that are handmade. So, we have rounded up 3 local small businesses to help you celebrate send a card to a friend day, which is today!

In this digital age, it’s easy to send a quick ‘thinking of you’ text or better yet, tag your pal in a meme just to let them know that they’re on your mind. It all seems sweet and personal because it’s the world we’re living in, but we think one of the best feelings is getting a good old fashioned card in the mailbox. Seeing the message on the front of the card, inside the card and your friend’s penmanship is a personal touch that can’t be replicated through technology. We’re smack dab in between Orlando and Tampa here in Lakeland, so we decided to highlight small business from all three locations to help you participate!

1. Bloomwolf Studio in Orlando, FL.

This illustration and paper goods company was founded in 2015 by partners Luis Sosa and Betsy Garcia who forewent her plans of becoming a doctor. The medical field’s loss is our gain. Building Bloomwolf restored Betsy’s passion for art and her work can now be purchased in over 140 small shops and boutiques nationwide. Our Social Media Manager, Becca, has three of her city prints on her fireplace mantle she scored at the Tampa Indie Flea. We love their style.

2. Twenty Seven in Lakeland, FL.

We cannot get enough of Jenna Cherry, the illustrator who has taken Lakeland by storm for her skills and adorable name. She is currently a senior at Southeastern University and recently won January CityMaker for the mural she painted on the side of The Shop Across The Street in the historic Dixieland area of Lakeland. We’re a fan of her bold colors, her retro style and not to mention her focus on mental health. It’s beyond refreshing!

3.  Sagebrushed in Tampa, FL.

Maggie Sage Shaffer’s affinity for paper began when she designed a wedding invitation for a friend and she fell in love with snail mail and paper products, just like us! In 2015, she took the leap and began designing the line and Sagebrushed, a line of illustrated greeting cards launched two years later in 2017 in her hometown of Tampa, FL. What we admire about her illustrations is her whimsical style, Florida charm and attention to detail.

So, instead of turning to your phone to show affection, check out these talented ladies to celebrate send a card to a friend day!
