Nothing sets us straight like a nice dose of nature.

 Campfire Black eyed peas

  • 2 cups black eyed peas
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • ½ lb thick sliced bacon
  • ½ gallon fresh water
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

Cook down onions and bacon over the fire stirring constantly. Add the garlic, black eyed peas and water. Stir.  Add some salt and pepper, cover and let it stew over the coals. Stir occasionally.

They should be ready in 3 hours or so.
